Dr. Sam Varon Veterinarian

Dr. Sam Varon graduated from the University of California, Davis with a degree in Animal Science and the distinction of highest honors. He went on to earn his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, where he focused on companion animal medicine. His professional interests include surgery, reproduction, oncology, and end-of-life care.

Dr. Varon is skilled in soft palate and nares resection, screw tail surgery, various eye surgeries, and other procedures that help short-faced breeds breathe and live more comfortably. He also has an interest in advanced orthopedic surgeries, including TPLOs and fracture repair.

His love for animals shows through his commitment to the Sacramento animal community and beyond. He has volunteered with Mercer Clinic for the Homeless, which provides free veterinary care for the pets of people experiencing homelessness. He has also volunteered in Central and South America, performing surgeries for cats and dogs in underserved communities.

When he is not caring for Sacramento’s pets, Dr. Varon can often be found spending time with his rescue dogs, Autumn, Ziggy, Piper, and Meka, along with his miniature pig, Gracie. He is also a big fan of fitness and enjoys snowboarding, fishing, and spending time outdoors.
