In-House Diagnostics

In-House Diagnostics at Broadway Veterinary Hospital

Sometimes you know that something is clearly wrong with your pet without actually being able to see or understand what the problem is. Other times, you might have no inkling that anything is wrong with your pet at all. That's why you need to have quick, convenient access to state-of-the-art diagnostics for your pet. Broadway Animal Hospital provides these services through our in-house diagnostic procedures and technologies.

The Value of Fast, Accurate Diagnostics

Illnesses and injuries can prove more elusive than you might think. Even when your pet has an obvious problem, such as a fractured leg, it's still important to know precisely how and where that fracture has occurred, and which surrounding structures may be involved. Internal injuries and abnormalities can be very hard to diagnose simply though external symptoms, if there are any external symptoms at all. Health challenges such as total urinary blockages, gastric dilatation volvulus (bloat), poisoning, difficult labor, and internal bleeding can be life-or-death emergencies. In these cases, we can't afford to take any more time than strictly necessary to produce a diagnosis. By maintaining multiple in-house diagnostic methods, our Sacramento veterinarian, Dr. Varon, can deliver extreme diagnostic accuracy without any delays from sending tests results or images to outside labs for processing.

Techniques and Technologies from Our Veterinarian

Count on Broadway Veterinary hospital for your pet's diagnostic needs. Our in-house diagnostic options include:

  • X-rays - X-rays remain one of the most effective methods for looking inside the body and examining a number of internal disorders, especially those involving air-filled structures as the lungs or harder tissues such as bone. We also use X-rays for pet dental checkups.
  • Ultrasound - Ultrasound imaging is ideal for viewing internal organs, blood vessels, and other soft tissues, as well as harder objects such as urinary stones. It also lets us see moving objects in real time, from blood flowing through arteries to the prenatal development of kittens and puppies.
  • Lab tests - We perform a number on in-house lab tests to check many aspects of your pet's health. Blood and urine testing can alert us to a variety of diseases and disorders, while fecal testing helps us detect parasites. We also use cytology to take cell samples from suspicious masses and study them for signs of cancer.
